Washburn University Orchestras

Washburn University Symphony Orchestra

The Washburn University Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to the quality performance of the standard orchestral repertoire and to the professional and artistic growth of its members. It is open to music students, alumni, and community players from the Topeka area. WUSO has an extensive performance schedule on and off campus, annually presenting at least four symphonic concerts, including the beloved Halloween Concert and Vespers. WUSO participates in several musical projects, such as the Solo Aria & Concerto Competition concert, new music readings, and joint collaborations with the Washburn University Choir and Washburn Opera Studio.

String Orchestra

The Washburn String Orchestra at Washburn University performs a wide variety of literature for strings alone. It performs often both on and off-campus.

Since August 2023, Dr. Cipriano has been the interim Director of Orchestras at Washburn, leading both the Symphony and the String Orchestra.
